By converting the “o” into a modified form of registration mark, a visual link to the history of the printed word was achieved, further reinforced in the use of the 4C color cyan.  The logo (the bullseye “o” of Atypon) appears to be carved into the surface of the screen, adding a third dimension to the otherwise ubiquitous flatland of the computer and the printed page.
