On the mantlepiece of the Library, another vignette of collections that have been acquired over a lifetime. The painting of the Place de la Concorde, by K. Chin was purchased in the late 1950s, joined subsequently by the Georgian silver goblet, the art glass and the clock. The pecan wood paneling proved remarkably resistant to damage from the flood, mold, and high humidity, and required minimal restoration.
