In the original plan, this view of the Entrance Hall would have included a glimpse into the kitchen (to the right), now concealed by a bank of closets. By becoming a separate space, the foyer assumes greater dignity. The new hardware and architectural molding, carefully matched to existing, disguises the significant alteration.
